Awe, thanks Liz. You have the distinct pleasure of knowing my kiddos and hubby. And also of seeing how absolutely juvenile we are when goofing off at theme parks. I love my kids so much and just cannot get enough time with them. It’s the little things in life. Can’t wait to see you in a couple of weeks. I’m so nervous about being in the city, so busy but it should be a total riot.

I concur Alice. It’s refreshing. My hubby is not a cook, or a baker, although he does try on occasion.

I love everything about this post. Brooks really understands parenting and all the challenges it comes with. Working from home is tough. It’s hard to stay focused on the task at hand some days.

You really get to the essence of parenting and considering why I was off work it really just was the most beautiful post ever. I am so thankful to you, this allowed me much needed time with the family. It’s so rare for us 4 to get that much time together so we just shut out the world and spent all our time together. Betsy, I was so thrilled he said yes, then when I got the post I was blown away. He captures how I feel about parenting and how important the little things are. One thing about having older kids is you start to realize how time can just fly by. We try to make the most of my son’s visits since we know it could be some time before we see him again. I basically shut my life off just to be with the kids. And I never regret one single moment.

I am so happy Brooks said yes to this and I’m so honoured to be the home of this beautiful post about parenting. He’s such a gem. Plus cake, I mean hello, the man is a genius with cake.

Stacy I concur wholeheartedly with you. I adore Brooks and I was so touched by his post. He captured all the things that are the heart of why I needed time off while my son was here. He really gets parenting, and why we do what we do for our kids. It was such an honour to have him post. His relationship with his kids, and wife, are so inspiring. Brooks, love this cake and love this post. . I can relate the the kids thing. . my kids (2nd grade and pre-school) just went back and I appreciate what you said about being a stay at home dad. . also, as a mother/food blogger/recipe developer staying at home, I think working from home isn’t as easy as people think . . and balancing everything is hard but like you said, rewarding as well.
